nce upon a time in a California grocery store many years ago…a young man and ‘not so young’ woman met. They were an unlikely match, the epitome of opposites attract. Yet, somehow they were destined to live together ‘happily ever after’ even if they hit a few rough spots along the way.
This couple started out on a dream and a prayer…truly humble beginnings. He worked long hard hours while she stayed home to nurture the family and give them a better life than the ‘latch-key kids’.
They moved from California to Colorado and eventually to Oregon where they planted roots as their family continued to grow. He worked the corporate grocery store world climbing the ladder from ‘box boy’ to manager as she became more and more a ‘widow’ as he was rarely home.
An opportunity from Grocery Outlet couldn’t have come at a better time: his current employer was bought out by another company, and life became ridiculous and crazy…super fast. At first, they couldn’t believe all they heard about this Grocery Outlet; was it for real? It seemed pretty sweet: almost too good to be true. Owning a store, being in a partnership with an amazing company, set your own rules, hire who you want, etc. The only catch was they both had be involved in the entire process: the training, the classes, the interviews and eventually the business plan.
After a few learning curves for him, and some big challenges for her, they made it. They were awarded their first store in February of 2016 (Newberg, OR). There they built a great team, had pretty decent success by growing sales and being involved in the tight-knit community. Now, they are the proud owner/operators of the brand new Dallas Grocery Outlet in Oregon, they are super excited and can’t wait to serve the community by bringing BIG savings to every customer.
This is by far the very best decision they ever made, after saying, “I do” of course.
